We always assume that all others know what we know. But it is far from being true at all. Everyone on a team has different knowledge and also a different level even on the same kind of knowledge. So, if something is easy for you, it does not mean it is easy for your fellow devs. Same for things that are obvious or common sense…
No, they are not.
No matter what, be it a new tool, coding pattern or a good way to solve a problem. Don’t assume that anybody else knows it too.
It took me a very loooooong time to actually get that into my head. If they don’t know, tell them and explain it. However, whatever you do, just stop thinking they are stupid lazy morons because they don’t know a certain thing you think everyone knows.
When you stop with those assumptions, it makes communication with fellow devs much more enjoyable and productive.
