What do you think?
Clean code?
BDD or TDD?
Framework knowledge?
Maybe, maybe not.
Since I started the job portal I am regularly interviewing employers for the hiring process. And guess what many of them do as the first step in the screening process?
Checking the CV for keywords. Keywords they require, be it Spring, Java, JBoss or whatever they are looking for. Got them, then you moved one step forward. Otherwise bye-bye.
It doesn’t even matter who screens; recruiter, HR or even devs. They do the same, some more, some less. Often it is the only thing they can do because they lack any deeper knowledge of software development. It’s ridiculous but Java Skript Javascript and Java Script is not the same for many recruiters. Funny, isn’t it?
Is that good?
If you ask me, nope. I think it is stupid. Yet, I do not make the rules. They make them.
You can either be a good player and play by the rules or you step away from the game and bypass this. Yep, it is possible but takes some time and patience.
