Thank you to all for those who have given me feedback. I appreciate it and will use it :-)
BTW if you did miss it, you can still help me and fill out that short form: https://codeboje.typeform.com/to/Iq7n3e
Besides the feedback for the newsletter, I’ve been playing with a few ideas lately and I think it is now time to gather your input. So, feel free to share your thoughts on it.
Idea 1:
An online course about Spring Boot, text and code focussed, with complete working sample applications, i.e. HN clone, simple shop using microservices or similar to the spreadsheet app we did here. The aim is to move away from tiny topic-how-tos and more to “how do I apply it to building a complete app”. I was also thinking about adding a mentoring option, so you can get 1-on-1 feedback to improve even faster.
Idea 2:
More tutorials on design and architecture and pros/cons of different approaches. Adding a few annotations isn’t the big deal. It becomes hard if you build real-world apps in a particular context, where you have to make the best of the stuff you got at hand.
I am not sure which format is the best though. A dialog in the same room in front of a whiteboard works great, but that’s no feasible online and different time zones. Screencast? Text and many diagrams? Whiteboard video?
Idea 3:
Instead of putting out tutorials, books, course, I was thinking about making all that available in one place like a Saas. Most time we read online in a browser anyways, so it might be more convenient when coding along. Maybe with a slack group or alike, so you can ask me or fellow devs for input.
Idea 4:
Publishing your books. Yep, you read right. Yours, not mine. It can have an incredible effect on your career if you put your knowledge out there and your name is attached to it. Imagine you can skip those stupid interview tests and get directly to the meat. If that’s for you, I’d like to help you with publishing your book.
Just hit REPLY and type your thoughts, no need to be formal.
